About Geerke

Geerke Sticker (1993) is geboren en opgegroeid op het platteland in West-Vlaanderen. Vandaag woont en werkt zij in Gent (België)

 

"Geerke is een kunstenares die werkt vanuit de materie. Materie die leeft, sterft en iets te vertellen heeft. Geerke zoekt naar een weg om die materie via het beeld te laten spreken. Het maakproces van haar organische sculpturen vloeien vaak over tot het verzorgen van de sculpturen die doorheen de tijd vergankelijke sporen vertonen. De kunstenares deelt haar werk (proces) soms op een rituele manier waarbij andere mensen kunnen deelnemen om zo een bewustzijn te creëren over de relatie mens en materie."

Geerke Sticker (1993) is born and raised in the countryside of West-Flanders and now resides in the city of Ghent (Belgium).  

"Geerke is an artist whose work is grounded on matter. Matter that lives, dies and has something to say. Geerke searches for a way to let that matter speak through the medium of the sculpture. The creation process of her organic sculptures often flows into the care of the sculptures that show transient traces through time. The artist sometimes shares her work (process) in a ritual way where other people can participate to create an awareness about the relationship between man and matter."
